Syosset | Long Island Addiction Resorces

Syosset, New York

Addiction is a devastating disease the affects our society on a deep level. Most people view addiction as a moral deficiency. They believe addicts have the choice whether or not they use and they just lack the will power necessary to stop. They view addicts as low lifes or criminals because the symptoms of addiction are often anti-social and illegal behaviors. However, we as professionals who work tirelessly in the field of addiction believe this point of view is too simplistic.

Syossett is no stranger to the horrors of addiction. Addiction is not just about using a specific substance. Often substance abuse is just a symptom of a much more deeply rooted issue. In order for an addict to get and maintain sobriety, they must get honest with themselves and realize that the practice of abstaining from drugs and alcohol requires a change of thinking, and beliefs, actions and behaviors, an entire psychic change. Millions of Americans have sought help with their alcohol or drug problem and found it. Although this disease never goes away there is no complete cure. But there is remission, provided the recovering alcoholic or addict follows a few simple rules.
