Making a decision to reach out for help from alcohol and drug addiction is a very important decision. In 1956 the (CDC) Center for Disease Control classified alcoholism as a disease. However, it is often misunderstood and addicts are often ostracized by the general public, mainly because the symptoms of this disease are anti-social and often illegal. The disease of alcoholism and drug addiction rips through the lives of its victims and their families and friends. The disease of addiction gets progressively worse and the end results are usually incarnation or early death.

A Four-month long joint investigation by the FBI, and Nassau County Police Department, uncovered a Narcotics distribution ring in Nassau County. The ring operating was operating out of the Old Mill Court apartment complex. The defendants face charges of conspiring to distribute crack cocaine. As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials monitored court ordered wire taps, which revealed the purchase and sale of narcotics by the drug organization. Search warrants were issued by the courts and were executed by the FBI and local law enforcement on specific residences in the Old Mill Court apartment complex. The searches resulted in the seizure of a large quantity ammunition and crack cocaine.

“The charges and arrests announced today have disrupted an alleged drug distribution organization that victimized an entire housing development of Old Mill Court,” according to United States Attorney Lynch. “We are committed to ensuring that the residents of our public housing, and all the residents of our district, are free from the scourge of narcotics trafficking. As a result of the close cooperation of federal and local law enforcement partners, these defendants will now be held to account for their charged crimes.”

According to FBI Assistant Director leading the investigation and subsequent arrests, “These arrests mark an important step in returning the streets of Nassau to the law-abiding residents. Narcotics traffickers and street gang members pose a threat to our communities, and the FBI is committed to ridding our neighborhoods of these twin plagues.”

“These arrests will have a beneficial impact on the quality of life in Nassau County and other Long Island communities,” Police Commissioner Gennario. “We faced a major law enforcement challenge in our community, which required the assistance of federal law enforcement. I want to thank the United States Attorney’s Office and the FBI for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism throughout the course of this extensive investigation—without their assistance this operation would not have been possible.”
